MILAN, Italy -- Juventus eased to a 2-0 win at Livorno on Sunday to provisionally take over the top spot in Serie A, while Fiorentina fell to a surprise 1-0 defeat at Udinese. Fernando Llorente and Carlos Tevez scored in the second half for Juventus. The two time-defending champion moved two points above Roma, which hosts Cagliari on Monday. "I dedicate it to our fans who always support us," Llorente said. "We have to look at ourselves and continue doing everything the coach asks of us, as we are doing. I think we are a strong team." Tomas Heurtaux scored for Udinese, which had lost four of its past five matches. Inter Milan missed the chance to draw level with third-place Napoli as it hit the crossbar twice but drew 1-1 at relegation-threatened Bologna. Elsewhere, a stoppage-time equalizer saw Lazio snatch a 1-1 draw at 10-man Sampdoria and spoil coach Sinisa Mihajlovics first match in charge. "Its never nice to concede right at the end, but the wheels keep on turning," Mihajlovic said. "Im disappointed for the lads, they proved to themselves and others how you have to play when you wear the Sampdoria shirt." Sampdoria played the entire second half with 10 men after Nenad Krsticic was sent off. Also, teenage forward Domenico Berardi struck again as Sassuolo beat Atalanta 2-0 while Torino crushed Catania 4-1. Juventus faced something of a crisis in defence, with Stephan Lichtsteiner and Andrea Barzagli injured and Angelo Ogbonna and Leonardo Bonucci out suspended. Mauricio Isla, Sebastian Giovinco and Simone Pepe were also out with injury. The visitors broke the deadlock shortly after the hour mark when Llorente volleyed Paul Pogbas cross into the top corner with a magnificent strike. Llorente turned provider in the 75th to set up Tevez for a low drive into the bottom corner. Andrea Coda almost scored an own goal to extend Juventus lead when his diving header hit the post from Simone Padoins cross. Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon was rarely troubled on his 500th Serie A appearance. Inter is eight points behind Juventus and two behind Napoli following the surprise draw. Bologna took the lead in the 12th minute following a swift counter attack. Jonathan Cristaldo raced down the right flank before rolling the ball across to Kone, who hadnt been picked up as he burst through the middle and sidefooted home. Former Bologna Saphir Taider could have been sent off as he was fortunate not to receive a second yellow card in the buildup to the goal for a shirt tug on Alessandro Diamanti. The referee had played the advantage. Inter came close to levelling on the stroke of halftime as Taider and Alvaro Pereira sent passes across goal but nobody was able to tap in. Moments later Fredy Guarins free kick was deflected onto the crossbar. It was back on level terms six minutes after the break when Jonathans shot was deflected into the bottom near corner. Bologna almost restored its lead five minutes later but Samir Handanovic pulled off a great save to deny Rolando Bianchi. Inter nearly snatched all three points in stoppage time when Juan Jesus volley crashed off the crossbar. Fiorentina is two points further back, in fifth spot, after losing at the Stadio Friuli despite dominating for much of the match. Udinese scored the only goal of the game against the run of play when Roberto Pereyra nodded on Antonio Di Natales free kick for Heurtaux to volley home at the far post in the 34th minute. Goalkeeper Zeljko Brkic kept Udinese in the lead while his counterpart Neto also made a number of saves. Udinese moved into the top half of the table and is a point behind eighth-placed Lazio. It was Mihajlovics first match in charge since taking over at Sampdoria after failing to guide Serbia to the World Cup. Mihajlovic played for both Lazio and Sampdoria. Sampdoria had lost its past three matches and its hopes of ending that run took a blow when Krsticic was shown a second yellow card at the start of the second half. However, it took the lead in the 67th minute. Lazio goalkeeper Federico Marchetti did brilliantly to parry Manolo Gabbiadinis effort, before scrambling up to swat away another shot, but Roberto Soriano headed in the rebound. Lazio levelled at the end when Lorik Cana drilled into the bottom left corner. Catania is now a point behind Sampdoria and level with bottom club Chievo Verona after a hefty defeat in Turin. Sebastian Leto got Catania back into the game at the start of the second half following goals from Ciro Immobile and Omar El Kaddouri. But Emiliano Moretti and El Kaddouri sealed the match with two in as many minutes. Sassuolo moved three points above the relegation zone with goals from Simone Zaza and Berardi against fellow strugglers Atalanta. After all the Cardinal had been through this season, they earned a chance to repeat as Rose Bowl champions. This trip to Pasadena might be even sweeter than the first one. Tyler Gaffney ran for 133 yards and scored three touchdowns in a dominating first half, leading No. 7 Stanford back to the Rose Bowl with a 38-14 victory over No. 11 Arizona State in the Pac-12 title game Saturday night. "We talk about what it takes to get into Stanford ... where everybody else says you dont have to do that," Shaw said. "When things get tough or when people say they (the players) shouldnt do it or cant do it, they dont care. They put their heads down and keep working." Stanford (11-2) raced out to a big lead Sept. 21 in its first game with Arizona State this season and had its way with the Sun Devils again early in the rematch, going up 28-7 early in the second quarter. Gaffney, as he has most of the season, did most of the damage, scoring on a 69-yard run on the Cardinals second play and a pair of 1-yard runs. The Cardinal consistently gouged Arizona States defence for big plays all night, racking up 517 yards, including 240 on the ground. Kevin Hogan kept the Sun Devils off-balance, throwing for 277 yards and a touchdown. Ty Montgomery added a dash of versatility, catching a touchdown pass and running for another score. Stanfords defence, its calling card under Shaw and Jim Harbaugh before him, was dominating again, preventing Taylor Kelly from making big plays while holding Arizona States offence to 311 total yards. After a seesaw ride into the Pac-12 title game that included a loss to unranked Utah, the Cardinal are headed back to Pasadena after a dominating performance. "We had some downs this year, but we love each other," said Gaffney, who watched last years Rose Bowl from the sideline after returning from playing minor league baseball. "Being here makes it all worth it." Arizona State (10-3) stumbled early for the second straight game against the Cardinal and again had trouble on special teams to spoil its Rose Bowl hopes. The Sun Devils were able to beat Arizona without leading rusher and scorer Marion Grice last week, but had trouble getting much going offensively without him against the Cardinal. D.J. Foster accounted for 142 total yards and two touchdowns before a knee injury sidelineed him for most of the second half.dddddddddddd Kelly threw for 173 yards and touchdown and was unable create plays with his legs against Stanfords containment. Instead of their first trip to Pasadena since 1997, the Sun Devils will likely play in the Holiday or Alamo Bowl. "They dominated the game and beat us every way you can tonight," Arizona State coach Todd Graham said. "They obviously were the better team and deserved to win." Stanford won the first meeting 42-28 by racing out to a big lead and holding a Sun Devils charge. A lot happened in the 11 weeks since: Arizona State won seven straight to clinch the Pac-12 South and Stanford won the North despite losing twice. The Cardinal got off to another fast start in the rematch: Gaffney raced 69 yards down the sideline for a touchdown that turned the raucous crowd inside Sun Devil Stadium nearly silent. The Sun Devils had a quick counterpunch this time, scoring on their fifth play when Foster charged through up the middle for a 51-yard touchdown, eclipsing Arizona States entire rushing total (50) from the first meeting. But Stanford followed with a series of body blows, churning out big plays behind its massive offensive line. Gaffney scored on a 1-yard run after Hogan hit Jordan Pratt on 35-yard pass. Montgomery scored on the first play of the second quarter, racing in 22 yards on an end-around after Hogan connected on a 42-yard pass to Devon Cajuste. A 29-yard run by Anthony Wilkerson set up Fosters third TD, a fourth-down dive that put the Cardinal up 28-7 early in the second quarter. "We said all week not to let them make big plays and we didnt do that," Arizona State safety Alden Darby said. "We gave up three bombs to let them score and that set the tone." Arizona State finally showed signs of life late in the quarter, when Foster broke a tackle and turned a swing pass into a 65-yard touchdown that cut the lead to 28-14. The Sun Devils had a couple of scoring chances in the third quarter and came up empty. Zane Gonzalez ended his school-record streak of made field goals 18 by missing a 31-yarder and Stanfords Zach Hoffpauir came off the corner to stuff DeMarieya Nelson on fourth-and-goal on Arizona States second attempt from the 1. Stanford put it out of reach thanks to another big play early in the fourth quarter. Hogan hit Cajuste on a 78-yard pass, then found Montgomery on a 24-yard touchdown throw to put the Cardinal up 38-14 and headed back to the Rose Bowl. ' ' '
